On Thursday, January 20, 2022, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated 1763 packages with biosafety products to the Ministry of Education of Belize. The packages will be distributed nationwide with the purpose of generating a safe environment in the schools, disinfection of classrooms, protection of teaching staff and students against COVID-19.
The donation consisted of liquid bleach, flash disinfectant, hand sanitizer, liquid hand soap and kids’ face masks.
President Leovany López, ecclesiastical leader, mentioned that as a teacher and representative of the Church of Jesus Christ it is a blessing to participate in such a significant donation to the Ministry of Education and added, “Caring for the poor and needy is a foundational belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; humanitarian efforts are designed to give individuals and communities the tools they need to improve their own circumstances in permanent and meaningful ways. These supplies are more necessary than ever to guarantee the safety of our teachers and students. As members of the Church, we strive to serve others, knowing that ‘charity is the pure love of Christ’.”
Mrs. Dian Mahaeia, Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Education, thanked the valuable donation that the Ministry of Education received from the Church and commented on the experience in the process of this donation where the Church showed its enthusiasm for providing this help. The Ministry received a response to its needs, and added: "We know that even this generous donation won't last forever, but it is a boom to schools across the country that care about maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children. These supply bags are going to make a difference.”

Dieter F Uchtdorf, member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church said, “Stay close together and lift where you stand. Wherever you live, wherever you work, there is always an opportunity to help someone in need. ‘By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35)’.”
