Thanks to the generous contribution of Humanitarian Experience For Youth (HEFY), Santa Familia RC School in the Cayo District received a new classroom and restroom. The school was selected from a list of the neediest schools in the area. HEFY donated material and labor in June and July of 2017 to build a 25’x25’concrete classroom and one restroom with four toilet stalls and one urinal.

The work was carried out over an 8-week span consisting of four groups of 20 teens, their directors and a pair of parents per group totaling 95 volunteers on the project.
In 2016, HEFY constructed two classrooms and a walkway for St. Michael RC School in Las Flores Area of Belmopan. HEFY has been contributing to Belize for over five years in the Corozal, Orange Walk, and Cayo school districts.
HEFY was founded by Glenn and Elizabeth Bingham who formed this non-profit organization based on shared values as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It consists of teenagers between 16 and 19 who abide by LDS standards and pool their resources together to serve the needy around the world
With 130 expeditions planned in 2018, HEFY continues to expand its reach into new countries.
“It is so inspiring to us to see the thousands of lives that have been blessed by the hard work and contributions of these dedicated teens. They have built numerous schools, medical clinics, homes, shelters and more that serve needy communities across the globe,” state the Binghams. “However, what is even more amazing to us is the growth in personal maturity and spiritual strength that we see in the teen builders that choose to serve others rather than themselves. This is the real vision of HEFY.”
