Mormon Helping Hands Beautify Park

Mayor of San Ignacio expresses gratitude for beautifying community

Approximately 60 pairs of “helping hands” from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints descended on Macal Park in San Ignacio, Cayo, Belize, and repainted a concrete gazebo and 12 surrounding benches. It was part of the latest Cayo District Seminary Super Saturday activities.

Participants included seminary students, their teachers and supervisors, full-time missionaries, a senior missionary couple, and Mayor Earl Trapp of San Ignacio.

One of the youth said, "This is the first time I have ever done a service project. I've never done anything like this before. It feels good."

The mayor was grateful for the beautification efforts and expressed extra gratitude for the Church’s efforts to teach the youth to have a concern for their community and take care of it.
